Kan 15 minuter LitPE stärka inlärning? 15 min/dag i 12 veckor. Genomfördes på åk 2-6 varje morgon. De utgick från Zero Hour och LRPE på Naperville Central High School och modifierade det efter sina behov och förutsättningar. En skolmodell som kanske kan inspirera fler att ta steget? Gav det resultat? ”This class has gained national attention. The results have been remarkable: participants in the Literacy Physical Education (LitPE) class have improved at nearly five times the national average” (har ingen länk till hur mätningen genomfördes, och man får utgå från att de genomfört mätningen själv?).
“Literacy Physical Education is a program designed to help a specific grade level that is behind, based on the state wide reading assessment to each grade level standards. Our data shows that students who are in our 12 week class will more than double their peers and up to five the national average on the winter assessment.
“Students come to the gym every day, fifteen minutes for 12 weeks. The program begins in November and ends in January. Every lesson embeds fluency, comprehension and spelling into fun movement activities. Students in this class learn how to combat “learned helplessness” by the end of the 12 weeks. Students will use whiteboards, markers and towels as their learning tools. Paper and pencil is another option for you to use. Possibly iPads?
